Portugal and the United Kingdom have never been to war, and nor have they participated in wars on opposite sides as independent states.
The 600 plus years pact is known as the oldest world alliance and is still recognised today.
In Portugal it’s known as the Aliança Inglesa, in UK it goes by the name ‘Anglo-Portuguese Alliance’, but trivia buffs around the world know the relationship between Britain and Portugal as the oldest and perhaps one of the most steadfast ‘friendships’ among nations.
